OUR APPROACH TO CHILDCARE

OUR VISION

Nippers aims to be a warm and professional early childhood education provider, partnering with families to assist in developing children who have a strong sense of identity as members of their community, and are capable and confident leaders.

OUR 7 CORE VALUES

Children First - we are here firstly for the children in our care.

Passion - come from the heart, love what you do and show it.

High Quality - we care to go above and beyond.

Respect - treat others as you would like to be treated.

Professionalism - we are valued for our knowledge which we put into practice.

Teamwork - together we are better.

Constant Improvement - we strive to continually improve child care delivery and outcomes over time.

OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

Nippers’ approach to child care is child centred, and based on practices demonstrated to be beneficial to child growth and development.

Our Educational Program is structured around the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), while incorporating through practice, at appropriate ages, the RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) and Reggio Emilia Philosophies.

THE EYLF

The EYLF is our overarching curriculum covering the ages from birth to 5 years. Educators will use the framework in partnership with families, and in harmony with our educational philosophies, to develop learning programs responsive to the child’s ideas, interests, strengths and abilities, and recognise that children learn through play.

THE RIE PHILOSOPHY

RIE is based on the belief that children can learn and participate in their own care and that caregivers should provide a safe and predictable environment that fosters exploration and independent thinking.

The RIE approach focuses on respectful caregiving, emphasising the importance of treating children with dignity, patience, and trust. It also aims to create a relationship-based caregiving approach that promotes the development of children's autonomy and self-reliance.

RIE is incorporated into our Educational Program for children from birth to age 3 at Nippers, with the goal of developing an authentic child who feels secure, independent and able.

REGGIO EMILIA

The Reggio Emilia philosophy is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education, which values the child as strong, capable and resilient, rich with wonder and knowledge. The philosophy is centred around the innate curiosity of children and aims to assist them with understanding their world and who they are in it.

Started by parents in Reggio Emilia, Italy, after World War II, the parents believed that a new approach to teaching their children was required. The program they developed emphasised respect, responsibility, and community involvement. Children are encouraged to explore and discover in a supportive and rich environment, where the curriculum is created around the children’s interests.

In Partnership with Parents

Families know their children best. How we operate reflects this and we will always seek to incorporate family desired parenting practices into the way we care for your children.

Our desire is for you to be confident in the care we are providing and we don’t mind in the slightest if you pop in or phone throughout the day, no matter how many times, to see how your child is going.

Children’s identities are also heavily influenced by their family and culture. We want to promote this in every way we can so we can support children in developing strong identities and to foster a sense of inclusion between children.

We love to have parents involved in whatever capacity you would like to - no matter how large or small. We have parents sharing their cultures, stories, and talking about their jobs.
